The Trillion-Dollar Opportunity
I recently worked with a client who owns an auto dealership. He's sold $2.3 billion (with a "B") worth of cars and is responsible for a million car transactions. That's a lot of experience and expertise.
Now, there are 16,341 franchise auto dealers in the United States. Do you think they might want a plug-and-play system that helps them operate more like my client's dealerships? Do you think that would make them a lot more money?
The first question we asked was, "Imagine if AI and automation allowed you to have deeper, more meaningful relationships with customers. How big would the impact be?"
If we made you more human by letting a machine do machine things, how many more car buyers could you have a relationship with? That's my preference: the machine should do machine things to free up the humans to do more human things.
We analyzed the business and transcribed as much data as we could sales conversations, marketing messages, SOPs, you name it. Then, we identified seven areas of focus that made his dealership better than the competition.

Commercializing Your Secret Sauce
Interacting with a typical dealer is often frustrating. The before-buying-a-car process is painful. The buying-a-car process is painful.
The process is painful. Most customers never want to wait on hold or talk to people. They'd prefer a machine to handle all that for themâ€- scheduling service, sending reminders when something needs to be done on the carâ€- so it's 100% handled without wasting time.
We decided that if my client wanted to sell his whole process to other dealers as a service, with all the work to put it in place, he'd need a team of five to eight peopleâ€- good people who he'd need to pay $80,000 a year or more. And most of them would fail; the turnover is very high, and replacing them is difficult. The typical HR problems we all face.
So, we designed an AI app for all of that. To charge another dealer $10,000 per month for that tool would be a bargain. If he has 100 customers at $10,000 per month, that's $1 million per monthâ€- a million-dollar MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue).
The valuation of that kind of business with stable recurring revenue is 10x or 20x revenue, not EBITDA. A fast-growing software company is worth a hell of a lot more than a brick-and-mortar business. That's a company with a hundred-million-dollar valuation and just a hundred customers.

- Example: $1,000/mo × 1,000 customers = $1mm MRR / $12mm ARR

The value of that could easily be 10 to 20 times your revenue as long as there's a market for it.
I believe that is the key to creating massive multiples in the future.
